BASKET BALL

SATURDAY’S GAMES

ALBANY I v. UNIVERSITY. The game between Albany I and University was played on University Court, which was in a rather slippery condition. During the first 10 minutes play travelled up and down the court, but owing to the solid defence on both sides no score resulted. Albany opened the score, but University soon retaliated. The game during the first half was of a fairly even nature, although Albany obtained a fair lead, the score at halftime being 9—5 in their favour. In the second half both sides played a more determined game, Albany increasing the lead obtained in the first half. The whistle sounded with the score standing at 20 —8. Mr S. Foster controlled the game. ALBANY II v. EX-GIRLS 11. The match between Albany II and ExGirls 11, played on University Court, with Miss R. Mackenzie as referee, proved to be a better game than was expected. It was more even than the final scores seems to indicate, in that each third had a share of the play. In the first half Ex-Girls’ forwards lost many opportunities at goal, while Albany were more accurate in their shooting, and soon established a lead. The halftime score was 9—2 in favour of Albany. In the second half some, very clever movements were seen. Miss D. Dixon, wing centre for Ex-Girls, was outstanding in her clever interceptions, and Miss Jamie shot some fine long-distance goals. Albany continued to play their strong game, the forwards losing very few opportunities. Albany defence played an excellent game, Miss Todd in particular being outstanding. The final score was 16—7 in favour of Albany 11. ' REPRESENTATIVE TRIALS. The following players are requested to be present at University Court on Saturday next at 4 p.m.:— Forwards: J. Cupplea, M.
