DAN RUSSELL WINS STEEPLES (Peb United Pbess Association. I ASHBURTON, June 24. The winter races were held in cold weather. The track was in excellent order. The attendance was good. The totalieatbr handled £0442 10s, as against £6326 10s last year. ,H. Turner, the rider of Don Jose, which fell in the first race, was admitted to the hospital suffering from slight concussion and shock. His bands were crushed, but no bones were broken. W. Cooper.' the rider of Night Parade, was injured when the horse fell in the Dromore Steeplechase. He was admitted to the hospital with a broken shoulder blade.
