TAIERI POULTRY SOCIETY

The monthly meeting of the Taieri Poultry Society,v held on Saturday night, was well attended. The president (Mr J. P. Walls) presided. Prior to the ordinary business a motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr J. B. White (St. Clair) , was carried. MrWhite had been an exhibitor at the Taieri Show for many years. . . A letter was read from the Mosgiel Borough Council. granting the use of thehall for the show .for £B. Should- a special cleaning of the'hall be necessary after the show a fee of 10s would be charged.—Noted. , The South Island Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Association notified that at the last annual meeting the following weights had been adopted for judging bantams at shows under the association’s control; — Rosecombs, cocks 20oz, hens 16oz; Sebrights, cocks .220 z, hens 18ojs; Japanese, cocks 260 z, hens 220 z; Modern Game, cocks 20oz, hens 16oz; Old English Game, cocks 18oz to 220 z, hens 16oz to 20oz; Silkie, cocks 31b, hens 21b. The council drew attention to the fact that the Christchurch Canary and Cage Bird Club had resigned fro'm the association. Under the rules of the association all competitors and officials at the show of this club would not be able to exhibit or> judge at any show conducted under the rules ot the North and South Island Poultry Associations.—Noted.- n , T Advice was received that Miss O. m. Anderson, King Edward Technical School, Dunedin, would act as judge for the cooking section. . > . Stewards were appointed to assist the judges, and to pen the birds, erecting pens, feeding the birds, sheep and pig weight-guessing, refreshments, etc. Mr J. Friend reported that all arrangements were complete for a special exhibit of honey. The various items on exhibition would total close on half a ton in weight, The secretary reported that entries were coining in very freely, and he hoped the total would equal, if not exceed, last year’s. , . , r , A party consisting of Mr Jennms (Levin) and Messrs Johnston and Sons (Dunedin) were present. The former gave an address on the Poultry Amendment Bill.
