THE TALBOYS HOME
CO THE EDITOR Sir, — I was interested in reading the report of the chairman of the Benevolent Committee of the Hospital Board concerning the Talboys Home. The professional calling of Dr Newlands makes him particularly suitable to give an accurate report, which I feel will allay any doubts in the minds of the public, ■lt is obvious to anyone reading the report that many of the ratepayers who are finding the money to feed these people are not nearly as well nourished as the inmates are. Apparently, Mr Jones, who made some very sensational statements in regard to the food and administration of the home as an election cry, was unable to substantiate any of them. As the principal person responsible for the administration of the home for the last ten years, I feel that Mr Jones will be manly enough to apologise to the late committee. I would remind Mr Jones that statements such as he made are called by very unpleasant names when they are not proven in business circles. —I am, etc., J. W. Score, Late chairman of the Benevolent Committee.
