Usually this weed can be controlled in gardens by good cultivation, but if this is impossible it may he sprayed in the spring with a 5, per ■ cent, solution of sodium chlorate. The solution may be made up by mixing 11b of sodium chlorate with two gallons of water. The plants should be thoroughly sprayed on a dry day. Care must bo exercised In using this mixture, as It will kill any other plant with which it comes into contact.
