MR M'MILLAN ELECTED (Per United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH. June 23. Extraordinary interest was taken in the second mayoral election in Stratford today, The voting resulted: — J. W. M'Millan ........ 981 / P. Thomson 717 Majority for M'Millan.. 264 At the election in May the same candidates polled an equal number of votes, Mr M'Millan being appointed Mayor on the toss of a coin. Mr M'Millan’s first act was to dismiss the electrical engineer, the streets’ engineer, the parks’ cufator, and several of the street staff. The petition was lodged against Mr M'Millan’s election on various grounds, including irregularities at the counting of the votes, and a new election was ordered. Mr Thomson served as Mayor for the term prior to the May election.
