THE GOLDFIELDS DREDGING COMPANY

TO THE EDITOR.

Sib,— “ Once Bitten,” writing in your issue of the 16th inst„ thinks the thanks of all mining investors are due to Mr d. M. Stewart for giving, m the Uaiiy Times, what he considers the true facte of Big Beach from a public point of vie ' v ; I consider that equal thanks are due to “Once Bitten” for drawing the attention of investors to the danger of this great Golden Terrace dredge up the gorge to Big Beach. He writes of sticks of wood that would strike and P lle TI P the dredge in flood time, and the boulders on the bottom and who knows that a rock may not roll in from either tide, crushing the to pieces. Worst of all, there is the risk of the dredge not successfully going through the gorge without a scratch. What a calaSity if “ Once Bitten,” sitting on the bank of the river, were to see those who are interested in the company doiible o treble their money in a very short time with the dredge which he himself may have helped to install! Moreover, also Mr J. M. Stewart’s reputation _as a mining adviser must be at stake■ If Industrie!, Ltd., is. successful m floating this company, as is likely to happen* \ think it would be a great setback to Ideal mining to allow this fine dredge to be dismantled and removed to another field before first cleaning up Big Beach. I am, ’qne Bitten Mant Times. Queenstown, June 19.
