A LOFTY SCAFFOLDING.
The picture shows the scaffolding round the spire of First Church at the height to which it had been raised yesterday afternoon. In accordance with the decision of the Deacons’ Court of First Church to effect repairs to the exterior of the building, work has been in hand for some time. The stone-work is being scraped and repaired and the various carvings and pinnacles restored, and it is for the purpose of enabling operations of this nature to be carried out with respect to the, spire that the scaffolding is now being erected.
