FABRIC GAUNTLETS
One of those quiet revolutions that change the ideas of all women has been happening in the fashion world of Paris and London this year, and the simple, unadorned gloves of kid, or suede, or fabric which have dominated the taste of all well-dressed women for years have had to yield place to an array of fantastic creations more bizarre and more elaborate, if less expensive, than the befurred and bejewelled creations of Stuart days. Every type of material from tweed to gingham, from taffeta to pique and organdie, is used to adorn the gloves of 1933. We have already seen the long, sleek velvet gloves that introduce the new fashion, and the spring season \vill bring us the less practical and more sensational summer gloves. The adornment, however, will be confined in most eases to the gauntlets or cuffs, and not extended to the bands of the gloves;, and some practical “suggestions ” for bringing really useful gloves up to date are made by a writer in a recent fashion journal. For wear with a tweed suit or coat the appropriate glove is one of doeskin or cape leather. To these may be attached plain gadntlct cuffs made of the tweed used for the suit. For a simple summer frock one would choose gloves of washing doeskin or suede fabric. A pleated gauntlet of pique or of checked gingham, to match the frock, may be sewn on to short gloves of this type, or if long gloves are preferred the gauntlet portion of these may be trimmed with appliqued diamonds or squares of the dress material. With an afternoon frock of more elaborate type suede or kid gloves are suggested,'with big gathered cuffs of taffeta, or with frills of net or lace, sewn on a foundation of net. Ruched ribbon and plain ribbon bands are also among the trimmings proposed for the new gloves, all of which are of the soft pullon variety.
