CASES OF MALNUTRITION
OFFICIAL TEST IN AUCKLAND SCHOOLS. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 21. As the result of repeated assertions that many children attending Auckland schools are suffering from malnutrition the Health Department lias ordered a thorough medical examination to be made of the pupils at several of the city primary schools. A start has already been made at one of tho schools. The official attitude as expressed recently by the Minister of Health (Mr J. A. Young) is that there is no undue prevalence of malnutrition in New Zealand schools. Representations have been made to the Health Department, however, from a number of Auckland citizens that cases of malnutrition have increased in certain schools since the depression attained its present acute form. The department has, therefore, felt it necessary to test these assertions by making a careful and tabulated examination of all pupils attending the schools which have been mentioned.
