PROVISION OF RELIEF EXPENDITURE FROM DOMINION FUNDS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 21. A statement issued by the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association givea details of the expenditure in providing relief for ex-imperial soldiers in New Zealand. The statement is as follows: 1. No actual record exists of the amount of relief afforded to ex-imperial service men prior to 1922. 2. The only amounts sent from Britain for the relief of ex-imperial soldier* were £2951 in 1924 and £3OOO in 1926 — a total of £5951. These, amounts were sent from the United Services Fund. 3. During the period 1922-1933 the National War Funds Council (New Zealand) has expended a supi of £13,192 (Including the £5951 sent from Britain), a net expenditure (in excess of the amount received) of £7241 from the New Zealand funds. 4. This figure onlv concerns advance# from the National War Funds Council The assistance to ex-imperial service met from other sources, (local patriotic andwar relief associations, returned soldier* associations, and other organisation*} would considerably increase the figure.
