STUDY OF LOTTERIES MR MACARTHUR DENIES STATEMENT. SYDNEY, June 20. Mr Neil M'Arthur denies the correctness of Mr Whiddon’s remarks that the New Zealand Government is contemplating legalising lotteries. Mr M‘Arthur is merely studying privately the working of the lottery systems in Australia. GOVERNMENT’S INTENTIONS RUNNING OP LOTTERIES NOT CONTEMPLATED. (Per United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, June 20. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr J. A. Young) emphatically denied any suggestion that Mr M‘Arthur is representing the New Zealand Government in Sydney, or that the New Zealand Government is making any inquiry into the question of running a State lottery. He also stated that there was no intention on the part of the Government to introduce legislation for a lottery during the coming session.
