COUNCIL’S ANNUAL MEETING. The sixth annual meeting of the Council of Dunedin Scottish Societies was held on Friday last, when the following members were present:—Messrs J. Hope aud T. Gilchrist (Dunedin Highland | Pipe. Band), T. Ritchie, J. S. Douglas 1 and George Hay (Caledonian Society of j Otago), A. M’Millan and N. M’Donald i (Dunedin Burns Club), W. Keith Came- J ron and A. M’Lachlan (Gaelic Society 1 of o New Zealand), A. Wheeler aud K , Cameron (Piping and Dancing Associa- | tion of New Zealand). _ I The president, Mr J. Hope, in moving | the adoption of the report and accounts, j commented briefly on the activities of the I council and referred especially to the assistance given by the council in connection with the garden party held to rais l funds for equipping the John M’Glashan College Pipe Band with uniforms. Pro minent visiting Scotsmen such as Sir j Harold Bolton and Mr John Brownlee had been entertained, and Mr Hope expressed a wish that with the enthusiasm of members the council would take that part in the affairs of this Scottish community that its representative membership justified. The motion was seconded by Mr T. Ritchie, who congratulated the presidenti on the excellent manner in which he. i had conducted the affairs of the council : during the year. Several members spoke with reference to the past year’s work, appreciative i reference being made to the services of j the honorary secretaries. Messrs W. E- j C. Reid and Co. The motion for the adoption of the report and accounts was carried unanimously. Office-bearers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: —President/ Mr J. Hope; vice-president, Mr A. M’Lachlnn; houorary secretaries and treasurers, Messrs W. E. 0. Reid aud Co.
