CONCERT AND DANCE
The Moonlight School Committee held a very enjoyable concert and dance in the Macraes Coronation Hall on Friday last, when the hall, which had been tastefully decorated, was well filled with local residents and with those from os far afield as. Hyde, Middlemarch, Sutton, Dunback, and Palmerston. During the concert items .were rendered by the children, supplemented by the following:- Songs—Mesclames M'Gregor and Smith. Misses Egan, Kolcher, M’Leod, Phelan, and Thompson, and Messrs Cairney. Guild, limes, Leishmau, M'Rae, and A. Smith, while Piper Smith from Middlemarch gave a bagpipe selection, Miss Ockwell (Macraes) a Highland fling, and Miss Dowling (Hyde) a recitation. The concert was brought to a successful conclusion by the acting of Moukhouse’s lialf-hour ‘ play, “The Grand Cham’s Diamond,” by the Standard VI pupils. After the concert the hall was cleared for dancing, the music being supplied by Cnllgghan’s Dance Band. Miss Dowling and Mr Woodfield, Mrs Thompson and Mr Terry, won the two lucky spot waltzes. The duties of chairman and M.C. were very capably carried out by Mr S. Wilkinson.
