BAND CARNIVAL’ ■ There is every indication that 'the carnival now being organised by the Port Chalmers Band will be a great success. The various carnival queens are being well supported, and the uncertainty of the final selection is making the contest very interesting. The carnival is. in aid of the fund to purchase a new set of instruments for the band, , BOATING CLUB SOCIAL Rowing honours won during the .past season were presented to members of the Queen’s Drive Boating Club at a .social gathering held at Port Chalmers on Saturday night. The principal presentation Was the Otago Rowing Association’s premiership shield by Mr W. G. Glengarry, vice-president of the association. Another notable presentation was that of the Cameron Cup to the winning crew, and gold medals to the individual oarsmen. Gold medals were also presented to the winners of the Lady Mills Fours, and the winner of-the aggregate points in regatta and club races was.heartily applauded on receiving his gold medal. Representatives were present from- the Otago Rowing Association and from the Otago, North End, and Port Chalmers Clubs. The president of the Queen’s Drive Club (Mr J. H. Crawford) was chairman. The evening’s programme included vocal items.
