OPPOSED BY AUSTRALIA

SYDNEY, June 17-

The Telegraph says that the suggestion of Mr Bennett (Canada) for a reduction in wheat acreage will be opposed by Australia. Definite, instructions to that effect have been given the Australian delegate to the World Wheat Conference (Mr M'Dougall).

WASHINGTON, June 16

Mr Henry Wallace (Secretary of the Department of Agriculture) announced to-day that a maximum processing tax on wheat of about 30 cents will be levied to finance the acreage reduction programme, under which benefits of approximately 150,000,000 dollars. will be paid to farmers this year.
