RUSSIA REFUSES RELEASE EMBARGO MUST BE LIFTED (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, June 10. The Telegraph says that M. Litvinoff met Sir Felix Pole (chairman of Metropolitan Vickers) and refused even to consider the release of Thornton and Macdonald until Britain lifted the embargo on Russian goods. , M. Litvinoff added that appeals in Russia were rarely heard before a year after six months at the earliest. He saw no reason to expedite the procedure in the case of Thornton and Macdonald unless Britain facilitated it. THE INTERVIEW UNOFFICIAL. LONDON, June 17. (Received June 18, at 6.30 p.m.) It is stated that the interview by Sir Felix Pole with M. Litvinoff requesting the release of Thornton and Macdonald is entirely unofficial. The Government is taking no steps to approach M. Litvinoff, who has not communicated with the Foreign Office.
