BASKET BALL

SATURDAY'S GAMES The basket ball competition were continued on Saturday. ALBANY II v. EX-GIRLS I. The match between Albany II and ExGirls I opened with some sparging passing from both sides, Albany opening the score with a fine shot by Mies N. Hastie. Ex-Girls, however, quickly retaliated. Both sides again scored, the score being 2 all. Ex-Girls' forwards were combining excellently, Miss Cupples being responsible for some good goals, and the first half ended with the score at 9 —3 in their favour. . At the commencement of the second half, by fine interception on the part of Miss Watson, Ex-Girls opened the score. Albany here had two successive shots at goal, but both failed. A fine combined movement on the part of ExGirls resulted in a goal by Miss Sunderland, making the score 11 —3. Albany again attacked, and the movement resulted in a goal, Miss Adams scoring with a fine shot. An accident to Miss Todd delayed the game for two minutes, her place being taken by Miss Hastie. Ex-Girls were superior, and the final score was 18—6 in their favour. UNIVERSITY v. EX-GIRLS 11. Miss P. Ramsay opened the score for University against Ex-Girls II with a fine shot. University were penalised for stepping, but Ex-Girls were not able to take advantage of the penalty. Lack of combination kept them from scoring. University centres again combined beautifully in an excellent movement, but fine interception on the part of Miss 0. Abbot sent the play to the other end, where Miss Janie scored. University added two more goals, and ExGirls added the one, the result of an unguarded pass (score 6—5). Miss Janie then evened the .score amid great excitement from the onlookers.
