BURNSIDE STOCK SALE TO THE EDITOR. Sik, —To-day the official listing for fat lambs at Burnside totalled 1100. The number offered, however,-for public auction was merely 400 odd. The lambs which were publicly .auctioned met with spirited competition; in some cases 4s per head was given in advance of local schedule. Evidently 700 lambs were yarded which wore not placed Under the hammer. The question ia-whether these ,700 lambs, which were obviously sold privately by the agents, realised a better price than those sold by auction in the presence of all bona fide buyers.
