DEATH AT WORK
PRINCIPLE OF COMPENSATION RULING BY ARBITRATION COURT. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 14. “ It cannot be stated too definitely and emphatically that the mere fact that a man dies at his work is not in itself sufficient proof that his death was due to accident arising from his employment,” said Mr Justice Frazer, in a reserved judgment to-day. He rejected a claim for £IOOO damages made by the widow of a lorry driver who was found dying on the roadside beside the lorry. His Honor said the deceased was in such condition that he might have died at any time, and it had not been proved that death was accelerated by his work.
