COMMUNITY SINGING
The weekly community sing will be held on Friday in the Empire Theatre (by courtesy of the management) from 12 30 to 1.30 p.m. Mr W. R. Sinclair will be the leader, and he will introduce a new classic under the title or ine Milkman's Anthem/' which will no doubt' provide something, out of the ordinary. Mrs George Scott, one of Dunedin s popular vocalists, has consented to sing a solo, with refrain in which all can join. Miss Rita Holmes will be at the piano as usual, and her assistance always helps to make the weekly sings the great success that they are. Last week there was a very large attendance, and it is to be hoped that this week the public will attend in good numbers. The committee would remind listeners-in that donations will be thankfully received from them, no matter how small, either in money or goods. If the latter, these would be disposed of at the sing and the money given to the Mayor’s Unemployment Fund. There is no doubt that listeners-in derive a great amount of pleasure from the sings, and they can show their appreciation by sending in donations to the secretary, care of Begg’s, or to the Empire Theatre. The new idea of having the words of the songs put on the screen has become popular, with the result that everyone in the hall can see the words quite plainly and join in.
