FIXTURES June 17. —Green Island to Otokia and return. . „ , _ . . June 24.—Green Island to North Tnien and return. , , „ , July I.—Green Island to Henley and return. . , _ . , July B.— Green Island to Outram and return, via Outram and East Taieri. PROFESSIONAL NOTES The points for the Beale Oup are now as follows:—W. Garnon 9, M. Cannon 9 A. H. Brown 8, B. Thomas 5. R. Wilson-Pyne fi, W. Lucas .8, M. Paid 3, I. Guthrie 2, V, Scott 2. and A. Ralston 2 With Garnon and Cannon holding a lead of one point from Brown D is anybody’s cup as yet. R. Wilson-Pyne sprang a surprise on Saturday, and it he is as fit as his performance indicated he should not be far away when the points are tallied up. Cannon has been lucky that the scratch men were unable to start, and secured six of bis nine points from fastest times. It is a pity that B. Ihomas cannot find time to start, as he was just getting used to the road, and by his win a fortnight ago showed that he has still some of the dash that made a name for him in amateur races. The weather was perfect for cycling on Saturday, and a good race was staged bv the Otago Athletic and Cycling Club from Green Island to Allnnton am) return, n distance Of 22 miles. R. Wilson-Pyne set off at a fast pace, and caught Paul and Wills on the lull going out. and at the turn, had gained two minutes on the limit) ruler (Holt). Wilson-Pyne is now nearing fitness, and should show up well in future races. M. Paul made a reappearance after his smash, and. considering that bis leg is not properly healed, rode very well, and was only beaten in the sprint home. W. Garnon, who is one of the clubs most-improved riders, rode a hard race, but should practise sprinting, ns ho was only a wheel behind the first man home. Saddle Hill is the testing point of a rider’s fitness, and after, a hard race it takes a fit and strong rider to keep up a fast pace. W. Lucas would climb this bill better after a little more training. He was dropped there by the winning bunch on the way home. Guthrie is not riding ns ■well as when he forced his way up into the placings in the first race of the season. J. Kennedy, who was’ transferred to Clyde, is back in town again, but does not appear to have done much training yet. ‘

A. J. Brown made his first start this season, and rode a hard race. As he was off virtual scratch on hie own, however. it was not expected to see him in the placing*. A. C. E. Wills had an off-day oii/Saturday, and when Wilson-Pync caught him and Paul he could not stick with them. J. Holt. who had his collarbone broken at football, was seen out in his first ride on the road on Saturday, and went well, hut should remember when starting that he has a’ long distance to go, and should start off at a steady pace. A. H. Brown will have to keep at his training if he wishes to be in the running for the cup. as he is showing Signs of dropping back.
