CLAIM FOR INSURANCE

COMPANY’S ATTITUDE CRITICISED

STRONG COMMENT BY JUDGE

(Per United Press Association.)

WESTPORT, June 13,

The Supreme Court has been occupied for the best part of two days hearing a claim by Janet Macneil Millerton against the New Zealand Commercial Assurance Company for £350 for a house and £l5O for furniture destroyed by a fire on November 14, 1932. At the conclusion of the hearing Mr Justice Blair commented strongly on the action of the defendants in alleging arson and not attempting to support the allegation with evidence. He said there were pood claims against insurance companies and bad claims, and' this was one of the good ones'. Judgment would be given for the plaintiff for the full amount claimed, with costs.
