POLICE RAID IN AUCKLAND CHINESE HEAVILY FINED. (Per. United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 13. Two Chinese and three Europeans who were arrested to-day as the result of a visit bv detectives to promises in Pitt street later appeared before Mr W. K. M'Kcan, S.M., in the Police Court charged with gaming offences. Wong Lam, a gardener, aged 40, pleaded guilty to a charge of using bis premises as a common gaining house. Pleas of guilty to charges of being unlawfully on the premises were entered by Ming look, aged 30, Benjamin Phillips, aged 30 V alter Clues, aged 50, and Thomas Purdy, aged 38 ' Detective Sergeant O’Sullivan said that pakapoo playing was found > Wong Lam was fined £SO, in default two months’ imprisonment, and the men found on the premises were fined 10s. in default 48 hours’ imprisonment.
