GENERAL NEWS
The Lancashire and Yorkshire Association held a successful social and dance in the Radiant Health Rooms on Saturday. The president of the association (Mr L. J. Spence) occupied the chair. The following contributed to the programme: —Pianoforte duet, Miss G. Crossley and Miss E. Frye; dialect reading, Mr C. Frye; song, Mr J> Jordan; quartet, members of the association; song, Mrs Oliver; song, Mr L. J. Spence; dialect reading, Mr W. Nelson; song, Mrs G. Brooks. Community songs and oldtime dances were enjoyed. The accompanist for the evening was Mr ,W. Hargreaves. Last Thursday evening a fine programme was given in the Roslyn Salvation Army Hall by the local Sunbeam Brigade. A good crowd was present, and Major Bear, the divisional commander, occupied the chair. After the brigade, with its leader, G. Lamond, assistant officers, and Instructor L. Barr, had marched past the divisional commander and corps officer (Adjutant Kermode), the following items were given:—Comnany song. “Happy Sunbeams”; song, “Jesus, High in Glory”; recitation, “The Little Mouse,” Olive Kermode; character song. “ Daisies,” Kathleen Miller; dialogue, “Winning Mother Over”; song, “Grannie’s Twilight Song, Jean Henderson; recitation. Margaret Coburn; semaphore signalling; recitation, “Autumn,” Kathleen Miller; company song, “ Beams of Gladness ; Bible recitation, “Psalm 15,” the brigade: duet. “All the Way,” P.C. Irene Smith and Hilda Scott; dialogue. “Miss Moffetts Tea Party”; club swinging; actmn song, “Ten Sunbeams”; recitation, "How Din You Take It?” P.C. Irene Smith; pledge and declaration and Sunbeam rally song; life saving guard pledge and declaration, P G Hilda Scott; “ Building the Campfire ” and vesper, “Evening Song (soloist, Elsie Green).
