MARY PRATT CONCERT
A world famous singer who recently visited Dunedin, on hearing Miss Mary Pratt sing, unreservedly stated that he had never heard a better contralto during the years he had spent in the musical centres of Europe, and strongly advised that she should go abroad for further study. Following that advice Miss Pratt is to leave shortly for Paris to further her studies there. Out of gratitude for her many services to musical advancement and entertainment in Dunedin it has been arranged to tender her a concert in the Town Hall on June 21. and in order to make it a worthy compliment to Miss Pratt no effort has been spared to ensure its success. A programme which is representative of nearly every musical body in the city is to be presented and for one of the few remaining times before her departure Miss Pratt will be heard in some of her best known numbers. There is little doubt that the vast number who have heard and enjoyed Miss Pratt’s singing so much in the past will give practical demonstration of their appreciation on this occasion by filling the Town Hall to its capacity and helping to make this a concert to be remembered.
