FOOTBALL,

At Tuapeka Mouth the match between Beaumont and Tuapeka Mouth resulted in a draw, neither side scoring. Lawrence beat Waitahuna at Lawrence by 9 points to C. For Lawrence H. Weatherall scored a . try, and K. Tait and W. Wilson kicked penalty goals, while for Waitahuna M. Crane scored a try and J. Ryan kicked a penalty goal. , The following are the positions of the teams at the end of the second round:— ,

A meeting of the South Tuapeka SubUnion was held at Lawrence on Saturday night. Dr W, Sutherland was in the chair.

The West Otago Sub:Union wrote stating that it would bo pleased to arrange a match with the South Tuapeka SubUnion, but regretted that it would be unable to play it before the Otago country team was selected. It realised that South Tuapeka had a right to have its players considered for the Otago countryteam, and had written to the Tuapeka Sub-Union suggesting that if possible a match, Tuapeka v. South Tuapeka, be played prior to July 29.—1 t was resolved to thank the West Otago Sub-Union for its action.

On the motion of Messrs A. H. Jones and D. Jones, it was decided to offer the Tuapeka July 1,8, or 15 for a representative match. The following transfers were granted: W. Abel, Pirates (Dunedin), to Lawrence; J. Hayes, Dunedin to Beaumont; L. Hahn, Heriot to Beaumont; K. T. D. Tait, Bannockburn to Lawrence; L. Penny, Georgetown to Lawrence; J, M’Gowan, W. Bollaney, R. Bulfin, and T. Gillespie, Clutha Valley to Tuapeka Mouth.

Mr S. I). Jones reported having received advice from Mr F. J, Sherwood that he had secured a Dewar’s Cup for the sub-union—lt was resolved that a letter of thanks be forwarded to the donors, and that a knock-out competition be arranged for the cup at the termination of the flag competition.

The following matches were drawn up for the third round:—

June 17.—Beaumont v. Lawrence, at Beaumont; Tuapeka Mouth v, Waitahuna. at Tuapeka Mouth. June 24. —Lawrence v. Tuapeka Month, at Lawrence: Waitahuna v. Beaumont, at Waitahuna.

July 1. —Beaumont v. Tuapeka Mouth, at Beaumont; Waitahuna v. Lawrence, at Waitahuna.
