ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
KILLED UNDER TRAIN (Peb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 10. Mrs Caroline Ryan, aged 59, a resident of Ngahauranga, was killed under the wheels of a Petone-bound train at Ngahauranga last evening. She was in the act of boarding the train when she fell between the carriages, ■ and the train, which was moving slowly, passed over her body. The guard and stationm aster both saw a dark object fall to the rails and immediately gave the signal for the train to atop. Mrs Ryan was extricated from beneath the carriage, but death occurred five or six minutes later. Deceased leaves a husband, two sons, and two daughters. KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR MAN SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES. (Per United Press Association.) TIMARU, June 11. A man named Patrick Leo Collins, aged 40, married, with five children, died this morning as the result of injuries received through being knocked down by a car on Saturday night. A FRACTURED SPINE (Per United Press association.) GORE, June 10. Thomas Albert Bradford, single, aged 21, a farm hand, of Freshford, who had his spine fractured recently through being caught by a falling tree, has succumbed ip Gore Hospital. ELDERLY MAN INJURED James Carey, aged 70 years, who resides at 63 Preston crescent, Roslyn, was admitted to hospital at 1.40 p.m. on Saturday suffering from a fracture of the left femur, caused by slipping as he wae about to board a cable car as Rattray, street. FALL FROM LADDER Whilst examining a water-tank at Karitane on Saturday afternoon, Peter Macßeath, a maried man, 35 years of age, fell from a ladder on which he was standing, and fractured his right arm. He was admitted to Dunedin Hospital at 7 o’clock the same evening.
