Seven telephone girls at the Miyako Post Chico, in Tokio, arc hailed as the heroines of the recent Japanese earthquake and tidal wave disaster. When thi; population of the city rushed to the hills for safety, knowing that the land would be flooded, the girls remained i.t their post telephoning to Tokio and other cities for help. Though the waters were swirling through the streets the girls refused to leave their posts, and when the danger passed the terrified citizens returned and found the seven still at the switchboard.
