The University of Otago is offering a series'of public lectures on the worldcrisis which should be attractive to the thinking public. The first lecture of the series will bo given by Dr J. R. Elder on “The Aftermath of Waterloo.” Ho will trace the main streams of modern history on which society has been borne along "to its present position. In the second lecture Dr Fisher will deal with “The Economic Situation.” After that in order Mr J. B. Callan will lecture on some ethical and legal aspects of the situation. Archdeacon Whitehead will treat of “ Religion and the Crisis.” The Rev. J. M. Bates will take as his subject “The Force of Ideas in Society.” Dr R. Lawson will speak on “ The Founding of the New Society.” The lectures will be held in the University, beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 19, and thereafter weekly.
