CONCILIATION COUNCIL
BUTCHERS’ DISPUTE. • (Per United Press Association.) _ WELLINGTON, June 9. An application by the Master Butchers’ Association for a new award to cover the workers in the industry in the Wellington district came before the Conciliation Council to-day. On behalf of the workers’ union is was contended that the proceedings were not in order, and after a somewhat heated discussion certain'legal points raised were referred to the Arbitration, Court for decision. The employers’ advocate (Mr Mountjoy) alleged that the representatives of the union yesterday went to some hotels and other business premises threatening a boycott unless an agreement was reached in the Conciliation Council to-day. The employers were prepared to enter .a new award on fair conditions. The union’s advocate (Mr Croskery) denied any suggestion of a boycott.
