The N.G. Bro. M'Cormack presided over a good attendance of members at the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Prince ot Wales Lodge, held at Port Chalmers. Sympathetic reference was made to the death of an old and esteemed member, P.G. Bro. L. Herum. Joining the Prince of Wales Lodge 30 years ago, Bro. Herum was a keen worker in the cause of Oddfellowship, and, except for a short period at sea, was a regular attender at all functions and. meetings of the lodge. He was the holder of a 25 membership medal, one of those whom he induced to join the lodge being the present provincial grand master of the Otago district, Bro. R. Jack. He was ever on the alert to secure worthy members, and wa's a very successful officer, and on numerous occasions represented his lodge at district meetings. Bro. Herum had been ill for some months, but during his trying illness retained "his keen interest, in all matters appertaining to the lodge. At the funeral, on Anzac Day, a large number of members attended to pay tribute to his memory, the Oddfellows service at the graveside being conducted by Perm. Secretary Bro. W. J. Johnston. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried in silence. During the evening one new member was initiated, the candidate being a recruit from the lodge's juvenile branch. The chair of elective secretary having been rendered vacant owing to the former officer removing from the district, Bro. H. Williamson was appointed to fill the vacancy. During a report of the district meeting, the permanent secretary spoke on the quinquennial valuation of the Otago district, and congratulated members on the favourable position of the lodge as revealed by the valuation figures. During the supper adjournment the P.G.M. (Bro. JR. Jack), in the course of an interesting lecture, spoke on the work of the Manchester Unity in the United Kingdom and America, ft was decided to hold a card tournament next lodge night, when the older members would be entertained by the lodge. It was also decided that a social evening should be held in honour of Bro. Jack, who was elected to the position of P.G.M. at the recent district meeting.

The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Tuapeka Pioneer Lodge, held at Lawrence, drew a large attendance of members, over whom the N.G. presided. A number of letters relating to brethren on the sick list were dealt with, and the report of the sick visitors was received. One maternity claim was passed for payment.. The lodge continues to make progress, one new member being initiated that evening and three more propositions for membership were received before the meeting closed. A visiting past officer of the Loyal Valley Lodge assisted in the initiation ceremony, and was complimented on his fine 'rendering of the conductor's charge. The Loyal Milton Lodge wrote extending an invitation to attend a "victory" dance. It was decided to arrange for a euchre tournament with the Star of Tuapeka (Foresters) Lodge at an early date. Following the close of business a social hour was held.

The Loyal Albion Juvenile Lodge met in the Baptist Hall, Tainui, last Wednesday evening, when the members of sister juvenile lodges were the guests of the Albion brethren at a combined official visit. The N.G., Bro. F. M'Coy, occupied the chair, and extended a welcome to a large number of visitors, including a full muster of the Caversham juveniles and adult brethren interested in the juvenile movement. After the official welcome, harmony was the order of the evening, and those present enjoyed items contributed by Bros. Waltersdorf (piano solo), Huntley (mouth organ), Bros. Wood (cornet solo), Douglas (song), Sister Miller (song). An interesting programme by T.P.G.M. Bro. Robson and community singing also added to the attractiveness of the programme, Sister 0.
