All stamp collectors and many others were pleased when the King bestowed the honour of a knighthood on Mr Edward Denny Bacon. The new knight is Keeper of the King's Stamps. King George is an enthusiastic stamp collector, possessing one of the finest collections in the world and certainly the best collection of British stamps. He first became interested many years ago when lie was a midshipman, and the collection now occupies 200 albums in charge of a curator. It is continually being added to, and each year part of the collection is exhibited at the opening meeting of the Philatelic Society's new session. The collection is housed in a special room in Buckingham Palace.
