ACQUITTAL DISALLOWED
UNIQUE CASE IN CANADA SECOND TRIAL ORDERED. OTTAWA, December 2;i. (Received Dec. 25, at 5.5 p.m.) For the first time in history an acquittal in a murder case was disallowed by the Supreme Court, forcing a citizen in jeopardy twice for the same offence. On an appeal by the New Brunswick Attorney-General a new trial was ordered for Norman Pitts, who was acquitted by a jury of slaying a neighbour in an affray.
