(Received Dec. 26, at 8.30 p.m.) In the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland, South Australia in their first innings scored 352 (Lonergan 145, Whitington 31; Oxenham three for 73, Brew three for 115, Benster two for 8). Queensland in their second innings have lost six wickets for 101 (Andrews 37, Sides 31) .Queensland in their second innings scored 219 (Mossop 54), and South Australia none for 2. South Australia won by 10 wickets.
A CENTURY TO BRADMAN MELBOURNE, December 26, (Received Dec. 26, at 11 p.m.) For the Sheffield Shield match the wicket was soft after rain. The Victorian captain, Woodfull, won the toss and sent New South Wales to the wickets. A large crowd was anxious to see Bradman in action and it was well rewarded, as he batted brightly and confidently. New South Wales in their first innings have lost seven wickets for 348 (Fingleton 85, Bradman 157, M'Cabe 8, Kippax 17). The Cricket Ground authorities used the wicket drying machine for the first time. It is capable of sucking up 60 gallons of water per hour, A PROMISING BOWLER. SYDNEY, December 24. (Received Dec. 25, at 8 p.m.) Another promising bowler has been discovered. J. Moore, playing for Paddington against Cumberland to-day, took nine wickets for 17 runs, good batsmen declaring that he was unplayable. Moore is a medium paced right hand bowler who sends down off breaks. He stands six feet. Hitherto he has played in a junior grade club.
