SPEARFUL WINS THE CUP (Pee United I’ekss Association.) PALMERSTON N„ December 26. 'The Manawatu summer meeting opened in fine though muggy weather, and there was a good attendance. Tiger Gain led all the way and in the straight Plateau challenged and headed Tiger Gain, who hung on to get the verdict by a head. Three lengths back came Fleeting Glance, ahead of King Thomond and Flower, Time, Imin 55sec. Good Hunting and Farmer were the leaders when the home bend was reached, but Farmer went to the front at the distance and won easily by three lengths.
