MATCH AGAINST TASMANIA LARGE SCORE BY VISITORS FOUR CENTURIES (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LAUNCESTON, December 18. (Received Dec. 18, at (i. 30 p.m.) The match was resumed to-day, the visitors having 395 to their credit for three wickets. Seven wickets fell for 107 before lunch. Ames and Payntcr joined the century makers, the former scoring his runs in IG3 minutes and the latter in 128 minutes. Ames hit ten fours and Paynter 12 fours and one six. England was dismissed for 502. Rain fell during the lunch hour. Rushfoith, the Tasmanian captain, was unable to resume to-day owing to a leg injury. Heavy rain at 5 o’clock ended play for the day. (Received Dec. 18, at 7 p.m.) In the match against New South Wales, South Australia scored 213, while the visiting team made 379 (Fingleton 68, Brown 40, M'Cabe 67, Cummins 78, Oldfield 40). Lee took three wickets for 48 and Grimmett four for 138. South Australia in their second innings have lost one wicket for 37 (Richardson 27, Nitschke not out 10). VICTORIA v. QUEENSLAND. MELBOURNE, December 18. (Received Dec. 18, at 6.30 p.m.) In the Sheffield Shield match Queensland, in their first innings, made 126 (Cook 33, Brew 25). Fleetwood-Smith took six wickets for 59 runs and Alexander two for 41. Victoria, in their first innings, have lost one wicket for 59 (Ponsford 24, Woodfull not out 28). The wicket was easy at the start, but a light rain fell in the afternoon and play was stopped at 5.40 p.m, on an appeal against the light.
