Several of the horses engaged at the Banks Peninsula meeting to-day were among those worked at lliccartou on Thursday morning. . Metal Bird beat Wise Choice over five furlongs in 1.2 3-5, the first two furlongs taking 24 1-5 and the final three 37 4-5. There was not much between Golden Dart and Delice at the end of half a mile in 50 4-5. They will be rivals in the maiden race on Saturday. Royal Sceptre and Niggerhead, with good weights up, cut out five furlongs in 1.3 3-5 —a sterling effort, in which the former had the honours.
