BURKES-ST. LEONARDS
PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Burkcs-St Leonards Progress League was held on Tuesday evening, the president (Air AV. J. Barclay) being in the chair. The report and balance sheet were adopted. . , , A motion expressing the leagues sjinpathy with Mr H. E. Moller m h.s illness and hopes of a speedy recovery was P Matters relating to the improvements to the bathing shed and bench, and also tin. playground, at Burkes, were dealt with. Or Hayward, who was in attendance, furnished the meeting with interesting particulars of the activities of the Railways Committee. Efforts are being made to improve the timetable, both of the bus and railway services, and also to induce the Railways Department to reduce the transport charges. The meeting strongh urged the necessity of reducing both bus and railway fares. ~. , , , Other matters of special interest to the district were dealt with, the next meeting of the league will be held in the last week of January next year. Azotes of thanks to the retiring ofhceie brought the meeting to a close.
