THRESHING MILL WORKERS A sitting of the Conciliation Council was held yesterday morning to consider an industrial dispute relating to threshing mill workers. The commissioner (Mr 8. Ritchie) presided. The assessors for the employers were Messrs A. 8. Cookson (agent), J. J. Crampton, G. A. Hamilton, A. Craig, and R. Walker, and for the union Messrs W. Herbert (agent), R. St. George, 8. Hartley, and F. Ferrier. The employers asked for a new award, and the chief discussion centred round the question of wages. The employers offered Is 3d per hour, and found, and the union asked for the old award, with Is IOJd per hour, less 10 per cent. (Is SRI) and found. An agreement was reached, with some minor alterations, as regards conditions of labour. No agreement could be come to as regards wages, and this question was adjourned to enable the parties to submit it to their respective organisations.
