CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Everything is running smoothly for the children’s party which is to be held in the Town Hall on Saturday. * The Boy Scouts began the work last night of blowing up the balloons and a start will be made to-day decorating the Christmas tree. Her Excellency Lady Bledisloe, who is keenly interested in everything connected with children, has sent the Mayoress a handsome donation of toys. Eurlher donations to be acknowledged are from Mornington School, Maori Hill School and Arthur Street School, also from Lodge Morning Star, Mrs N. Beaumont, Mrs Jeavons and Anon. 2s 6d. It is to be hoped that the toys will be appreciated by the children who receive them, as several little girls have sent in their best dolls so that someone else might have added pleasure. A meeting of all those helping on Saturday will bo held in the Town Hall this evening. To-morrow the jellies required will be made there. Mrs Black would be glad to receive donations of cakes on Saturday morning at the Town Hall, which will be opened on Saturday morning, when the public interested may view the Christmas tree and toys. To save confusion when the children are leaving the Town Hall after the party, it would bo well for parents to remember that all children will leave by the Harrop street entrance. Someone will be in charge of the children there until rejoined by their parents. Mrs Black would like to hear from any-. one who has sent in any anonymous donation of toys and who wotild like a reserved seat.
