In a special wind tunnel in one of the departments of the National Physical Laboratory at Tcddington, England there might have been seen recently a beautiful scale model of the famous I yin,Scotsman - type of engine which takes the trains between London and Ed.m burgh at an average speed of about (>0 miles an hour. Every projection on the model is noted and with the aid of instruments and the wind tunnel their effect is measured. If the protruding item can bo eliminated so much the better; if no., it must be streamlined so that the powerful engine may have less to light against.
