SUNDAY EXCURSIONS

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,-— The letter on the above subject, appearing over the name of “ Disgusted,” is unfortunate for that writer, in so far as be has rushed into print without first having all the true, facts of his subject in hand. To say the least of it, the whole letter is trivial and shows littleness of mind, and if it had not been for the fact of a misstatement, I certainly would not have taken any notice of it. “ Disgusted ” says we are “ holding a carnival on Satui'dav at which raffles and guessing competitions will be in full swing.” Now I challenge “ Disgusted ” to show me one €t raffle ” which will be in full swing. We are holding a Christmas Tree for the children of the district, to give them a happy time, and the members of my committee, who are working enthusiastically, have arranged a few competitions, which will call for a display of skill. If skill is used in such competitions it is quite legitimate, and those who wish to dub that gambling are indeed splitting straws. I am entirely against raffles, and none will be permitted at this carnival. As to the taking of " strong exception to the sale of ice creams on Sunday, any right-thinking person would do the same if the sale of such things was brought to the very door and on the property where one is conducting a Sunday school. Those reading the letter by “Disgusted” will be disgusted at his attitude. We are doing what we cun to create happiness among the people of our district, but since the regrettable incident of a recent Sunday one dr two folk, like “ Disgusted,” are trying to spread an evil influence to injure our cause. This is seemingly the purpose of the letter to you. May I warn them, Sir, that “what they give out will comeback to them.” We shall carry on in spite of all, for “right must win.” Thank you, Sir, for your footnote to the letter from “ Disgusted.”—l am, etc., E. Bush, Home missionary in charge. December 11.
