Mrs Fowler presided over a large gathering and, in a neat little speech, welcomed the Macandrew Bay ladies, of which there were about 40 present. The roll call was a favourite verse out of an autograph which was answered by most of the members. The young folk of the institute entertained those present with a splendid programme, in which everyone came Wearing or acting something representing’ a popular song, which a good deal of amusement and also much thought. It resulted in Mrs Robinson (Macandrew Bay) gaining most points. The programme was as follow: Pianoforte solo (Miss Nyhon), Scotch reading _ (Miss Paterson), and duets and community singing (Mies Perriman and Miss Ross). A playette entitled “The Fox Fur,” which caused quite a lot of fun, was acted by Misses Sutherland, Nyhon, Perriman, Paterson, and Ross, and was followed by a chorus by the same ladies. ■ Mrs. Perriman acted as accompanist.
