(Special to Daily Times.)

WELLINGTON, October VI

Having lain in a critical condition since his admission last night.' Geoffrey Wilson* a jockey, aged 17 years, died in the Wellington Hospital at 5 o’clock this afternoon following a collapse after competing at the Wellington Boxing Association’s tournament at the Winter Show Stadium. Wilson collapsed after the gong had gone in an amateur bantam-weight contest against D. Lcvcridgc (Miramar), and when removed to the hospital it was found that ho was suffering from severe head injuries. He failed to regain consciousness after admission. The boxer collapsed while sitting in his corner after the final gong had sounded in the first amateur bout of the evening. Towards the cud of the bout he was knocked down, but rose again on the count of five. He appeared willing ti continue the contest. The final gong went, however, and he returned to his corner, where he began to show signs of feeling unwell. Wilson, it is understood, joined the Silverstream Boxing Club some short time ago and during the past three or four months he had taken part in about 10 contests. He was looked upon as being a very spirited boxer.
