COLUMBA COLLEGE

A meeting of the Board of Governors of Columba College was held at First Church on Tuesday, when there were present the Rev. J. J. Cairney (president). Mrs Hewitson, Miss Armour, the Rev. George Miller, Dr Borrie, and Messrs H. C. Campbell and J. M. Fraser. ’ Miss Grace Macintosh (principal) was also present. . The secretary reported having received a donation of £2O from the committee ot the Columba Old Girls’ Association—A motion of appreciation and thanks was passed to the association for this donation and it was resolved that the money should be set apart for any special renovations in the house. „ ... Dr Borrie reported that the small children’s playground was now completed, and that with its sandpit and varied equipment was most attractive to the children. The board was indebted to Miss L. M. Gillies for her donation for this purpose. Miss Mackintosh reported that the annual athletic school sports would take place on the school playing fields to-mor-row. It was also reported that a song and piano recital by the pupils of the School of Music would be held in Constance Hall on October 28. The swimming sports would be held at the Municipal Baths on November 3. Miss Mackintosh proposed that on December 12 there should be held the Drill Cup Competition and the exhibition of work, and that on this occasion the whole school and house should be open to the inspection of parents ana friends. —This proposal was carried unanimously. , , It was decided to hold the annual prizejrivincr ceremony on the afternoon of Deceniber 15, the last day of the school year.
