DUNEDIN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Lovers of good music, whether possessors of musical knowledge or otherwise, will be amply catered for at the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra’s concert on Wednesday next, when a programme from the masters will be submitted. This capable body of musicians can undertake the performance of works that is beyond the scope of the average orchestra, and because of this the organisation recognises its duty to the music-loving public to place before it compositions that are new to it. Amongst the composition? that will be new to Dunedin will be Rimsky-Kor-sakoff’s beautiful symphony “ Antar,” Berloiz’s Overture “Benvenuto Cellini,” Arensky’s “ Intermezzo,” and Wagner's Funeral March from “ Gotterdammerung ” /“Twilight of the Gods”). An outstanding feature will be the pianoforte solo. Liszt’s “ Hungarian Fantasia,” which will be given by Mrs B. R. Nees, with an orchestral accompaniment. The participating vocalists will be Madame Annette Chapman (soprano) a nd Mr Arthur Lungley (baritone), whose items will be sura to please.
