ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
• MAORI HILL CLUB On Saturday last the Maori Hill Football Club’s past and present players met in a drawn game, each side scoring four goals. Several old players of the club turned out and enjoyed the game. Iu the evening a very pleasant time was spent in the club’s pavilion, which was decorated for the occasion. The president (Mr James Simpson) congratulated the team of the season’s performance. The president referred to the Bachop Trophy, which has been competed for by the senior club members for the last three years, W. Thompson and A. Oliver being the previous winners, and the president stated that he -was very pleased to hand the trophy over to George Taylor. Taylor had risen to great heights this season, playing magnificently in all the representative matches as well as in his club games. Mr Taylor, in replying, referred to the harmonious working of his team mates, which had allowed him to give of his very best. . 1 Mr M. Wills took an opportunity of thanking the club for its action in allowing him the use of the pavilion, etc., during a match. He also stated that he was very pleased to be associated with the Maori Hill Club, and wished to thank the committee for its good work. Special mention was made of the untiring support given by Mr J. Simpson and the trainer (Mr P. Romeril). Mr 0. Balk, patron of the club, complimented the club on the many fine games he had witnessed during the season. During the evening a lengthy toast list was honoured, and the following contributed to the programme: —Xylophone solo, Mr J. Dalziel; songs —Messrs F. Morris, J. Walsh, H. Dodds, A. Madden, A. Oliver, and M. Wills; duet, Messrs W. Carse and A. Oliver; Maori haka and song. !)Ir R. Bachop; recitation. Mr R. Bachop; selection. Messrs P. Romeril, Oliver, and H. Balk,
