Perhaps some reader will be able to supply these. “ Spring Clean,” Waikouaiti, wishes to know how to clean light coloured shadow tissue covered armchairs. The arm rests especially are badly soiled. — The Home Science Extension Bureau kindly replies:—lf thfe cover is a loose one, take otf and launder. Do not boil. If there is any fear of the colour running, add salt to the water. Should the cover not be detachable treat with (a) petrol; or (b) Fullers Earth sprinkled on, and let to -stand 36 hours, then brushed off thoroughly; or (c) scrub with a good lather of soap and water, taking care to wet the couch as little as possible. Sponge with clean water to which a little ammonia has been, added.
