The prospect of obtaining something for nothing attracted a very large crowd of small boys to the Manse street shop of Barton's, where a free distribution of kites was made at about 2 p.m. yesterday. When the time for the commencement of the distribution drew near the large crowd of youngsters became completely unmanageable, with the result that, in their frantic efforts to get closer to the point from which the kites were being handed out, several boys were pushed through the plate-glass window facing on to Stafford street. The above picture shows a section of the crowd of expectant youngsters in Manse street, just prior to the distribution of the kites.
